Awaiting the Start

Hello! Exciting (and nerve-wracking) news! Monday is the official start of the semester. I've got two classes Monday, one at the Smith Center, and one (I believe...need to check) at the University building in Bastion Park. It's a lit class... and I'm pretty nervous. I'm currently soothing myself by doing this and listening to classical music. Not too much to report on regarding that... other than I'm also going to check out the teeny tiny gym on Monday after class...wooooo.

Today my plan is to update this for all of you, get some groceries, do some class research and some thesis research (so fun, I know) BUT THEN we get to go on a boat tour (?) with all of the other university exchange students. We met two yesterday and they were really nice. I think they're going to come out with us tonight as we explore the town and try to find a club (ugh... not my scene and all of them are apparently expensive, but we're gonna try for it anyway)... it'll be an experienc to say the least! The boat trip should be very fun, though, and it's a great opportunity to meet new people and branch out.

Last night, the last night of orientation, was amazing. Our directors and some of the teachers that were involved with our orientation classes took us out to a beautiful little restaurant in Carouge, where we stayed there for about 4 hours talking, eating, and enjoying being together as a full group one last time before the semester started. We had some wonderful white wine, and one of the best salads I've ever tasted. Then, they treated us to a Genevan delicacy, filets de perche, which are fish that are caught from the lake... they're these little tiny fine fish that were cooked in oils and served with thin pomme frites. It was an INCREDIBLE dinner, and my palette was very pleased. It was a fun evening after the most pointless info session I've ever been to (at the University), because they reiterated everything we already knew and that the program had already taken care of. However, we got free lunch out of it, and met two other exchange students who were super nice (the one's coming out with us tonight). ONe's from Lebanon and one's from Canada. I'm really excited to attempt to meet and make friends with people from around the world. This will prove to be an incredibly educational semester for me, in a way that has absolutely nothing to do with school.

xx Edie
