As of Monday, I recieved my housing assignment for Geneva..........For those of you who did not know, I would either be in a big ugly modern building right by the University, an all women's hostile (into which no men are allowed) or an old rejuvinated and beautiful Rolex factory, situated RIGHT on the Rhone river. Guess which one I wanted. AND GUESS WHICH ONE I GOT! Ding ding ding, the house "Berge du Rhone". I have a Smith roommate, and one of the women who I am traveling is living there with me as well! Perfect! This is becoming very real very quickly, getting e-mails with rooming assignments and proper etiquette with which to address people. My internship ends soon and then all of my focus will be on spending time with family, friends, my wonderful boyfriend (who I took to my favorite restaurant in Chicopee 'Munich Haus' as well as my favorite coffee shop 'Kava Press'), and also on packing and focusing BEAUCOUP of my energy on Rosetta Stone and my (stressful) travel guides... as well as drinking plenty of coffee from my french press and making myself lattes and cappuccino's with my new aerolatte in true French style.
Chatting with my fellow Smithies has made me realize that we are all filled with similar feelings of excitement, stress and apprehension as we prepare to meet in Boston and fly away across the ocean! At least I'm not alone in finding those travel guides stressful! (What in the world is a chip-in-pin? And how on EARTH will I be able to decipher which trains need pre-booking, which don't, when to use my eurail pass, or when to book a seat??)
Fortunately, you'll be with me all the way through everything, including blunders in train stations and attempting to navigate through foreign cities! To this end, I'm happily anticipating all of the wonderful photos I'll be taking so that I can share ALL of these experiences with you (hopefully in artful tints)!
A bientot,
Edie xo
